SQL Server 7 is provided for an extra fee. You can order this when you sign up, or by contacting your support representitive .
SQL Server 7 is only needed if you require a back-end database solution for high throughput domains. It is a high-end alternative to using other databases such as Access, Foxpro and Dbase (which are all supported on Win2000 free of charge).
To administer an SQL Database you need to create your database live using Enterprise Manager or Visual Interdev. If you do not have either of these tools or an equivalent you should not order SQL Server as you will not be able to administer it.
If you require us to run an SQL script to setup your database for you we are happy to do so, email it to support with your username/password.
We also provide a basic tool for sending queries to the SQL Database at http://sqladmin.nshosts.com
Microsoft provides a convenient tool in Access 97 or 2000 to upgrade an existing Access database to an SQL database. Click on the following links to download the tool and instructions on it's use.
Access 97: http://www.microsoft.com/AccessDev/ProdInfo/AUT97dat.htm
Access 2002: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/techart/upsize00.htm
You will need to create a local DSN (on your computer) to upsize your Access database. For step-by-step instructions and screenshots click here.
